It can absolutely be that. There's like 40 powers here and nobody knows what anybody else can do, right? Someone could totally have a power that makes someone paranoid. Not all of them are straightforward, remember?

It feels so natural. If it were a power, wouldn't I get the sense that it's an unnatural feeling?

[WELP. Akira has the high ground in height, so luckily their faces don't get stuck together during a hug. And Chuuya is surprised by the sudden hug, but after a moment of panic- "fuck is something about to attack???"- he realizes it's just Akira being emotional and accepts the hug.]

What's all this for? We're friends, right? I'm not gonna say 'good luck with that' and leave you to deal with your own thoughts.

[EXPRESSING FEELINGS IS HARD and it's actually a good thing he stuck them together on purpose, so he can't escape embarrassing himself.]

[Akira pulls back from the hug, pressing his free hand against Chuuya's cheek. he is wearing gloves, don't worry. no skin-to-skin contact here]

[he says that as firmly as he can, but his voice is wavering a bit. though not in a bad way. . . in that. overwhelmed with feelings kind of way]

I'm here for you. I'll do everything in my power to protect you, no matter what it is that you need from me.

No really, he's feeling a swell of emotions he's never really felt before and he just doesn't know how to handle it. What are feelings.]

And his face lights up like a Christmas tree. Luckily he pulls back to stare at Akira, so Akira gets to see.]

[He's never blushed before, so congrats on that.]

[draws back with a breathless laugh, giving Chuuya's cheek a pat before his hand falls]

I didn't know how else to show my appreciation.

[he still isn't used to people saying things like that to him, after all]

[Chuuya does say something, and it probably sounds close to 'idiot', but it gets muffled as he thunks his head down and buries his face against Akira's shoulder. If he can't run away, he can at least hide his embarrassment.]

[Akira is not apologetic at all despite saying sorry, so. as Chuuya does that he just. . . lifts a hand to ruffle the back of his head]

[funny how this entire conversation has helped ease his paranoia. . . if only the slightest bit]
