[ He'll finish up securing it in the back. Letting a finger slide between it and his neck to make sure it's not too tight. ]

Want to hear a secret? Something for your ears only.

Che! Fine. Tell me your secrets.

[He'll see what's around his neck in a moment anyway.]

Ah, I'm starting to feel like I shouldn't with Chuuya being like this.

[ He does take off Chuuya's hat as he leans in, lowering his voice. ]

Do you really want to know something I haven't told anyone else?

[oh boy that's close.]

Yeah, of course I do.

[ Chuuya really does trust him. He put something around his neck, took off his hat, and he's still keeping his eyes closed.

... ]

I actually do like you, Chuuya.

[ Putting his hat back on his head before he steps away. That's it. That's the secret. ]

[He knows Dazai. He knows Dazai well enough to understand how much of a confession that really is.

So when Dazai puts his hat back on, Chuuya will open his eyes and reach out to pull Dazai back towards him. Hug time is now.]

[ He's not supposed to open his eyes or hug him. He can probably feel Dazai freezing for a moment. It's always different when Chuuya initiates the contact like this.

Then slowly he'll place his hand his back as he leans into him. ]

[Too bad, it's time for hugging because Chuuya says so.

He'll stand there for a few moments, holding onto Dazai and just keeping him there. Feeling his heartbeat in his chest. Listening to his breathing.

And then, he speaks.]

Good. It's good that you like me. Because sometimes I like you too.

['Sometimes'. Dazai drives him absolutely batty sometimes too, and in those moments the like starts to drift over to hate. But those moments are further and further apart now.

Maybe the two of them really did change for the better.]

[ Putting his other hand up on Chuuya's back to make it into a real hug after his words. He knows what Chuuya means by that. The issue is, Dazai also likes driving him batty and those moments where it drifts over to hate.

He's just also coming to discover he enjoy these moments as well. He's starting to feel more and more that maybe he can want this longer. ]

You're still a cocky brat at times, Chuuya.

[ Ignore the small note of affection there. There's a pause before he rests his forehead against his. ]

But I would be lying if I said I wasn't glad that you like me, too.

[The bounce between 'like' and 'hate' probably is unhealthy, but it's what they are. Chuuya wouldn't ask for it any other way.]

Well, it's a good thing you're not lying right now, then.

[That affection is there in Chuuya's words too. Even if they bounce between positive and negative emotions all the time, he's come to accept that Dazai will always be in his life. And honestly? It's not so bad. He'll get used to the screaming matches, probably.]

[ Tilting his head as if to kiss him, but stopping just short of it. He wants Chuuya close that space. ]

You should get this moment memorized. I'm not going to feed your ego even further by repeating this all again.

[Dazai is so good at that anticipation thing, and he really needs to stop.]

C'mon, Reito promised me one smile a week. You could at least promise to stroke my ego once a week too.
