[He makes an irritated noise and runs a hand through his hair.]
You heard them at the trial, right? Not everyone believed me. And I know at least some of them voted for me. And now that Ogata's voted out and it wasn't him, they're gonna suspect me more.
So I wanted to make it clear with my friends at the very least. I can't prove it, but it wasn't me.
Chuuya, I think everyone was grasping at straws by the end of that.
[ It's said firmly. Not unkindly, not sharply, but also ... not as soft and lilting, playful and curling as her tone normally tends towards. Her smile is a little wry. ]
I was out at the bonfire near the end of it, but I'm sure I can guess at whatever happened during my absence.
It doesn't help that there aren't any easy tells this time around for when someone actually is the culprit, hm? None of the monster snap-defensiveness, too many variables to truly confirm whether one is cornered and just lying... really, these abilities have thrown a quite a snare into things, haven't they?
Ah, but you know, the final two were Escha and Ogata. Maybe if you're lucky, they'll believe the worst of Escha instead.
[ It's just a matter of whether or not that's an option he wants to accept. ]
[Something about 45's tone snaps Chuuya back from the paranoia-spiral he had been on for the last couple of hours. And what she's saying, it makes sense.]
Maybe I should just talk to Escha directly and find out what's going on. I'm in a unique position here, since I know for sure it wasn't me. I might be able to get more out of her than someone else can.
[She's not wrong though, this is harder than the trials were at the mansion.]
Could be an idea. Might be that even if she did do it, she still can't confess, though. This is where having a lie detection ability would come in handy, huh...
[ But that's just how it is, huh... ]
It's still strange, though. Outside of what could possible be perceived as a hostage motive, we still don't know what might have made her, or someone else, kill.
[Luckily he's not old enough to know 'advanced interrogation techniques', so that won't even be threatened here.]
That can vary person to person. Like, if someone disliked Yu, they might kill him. Or if they took the 'one team can win' motive to heart and knew Yu wasn't on their team, they might have done it. But hell, even killing for the 'one team can win' is a stupid idea, because people are keeping their teams quiet.
Right? Even if you believe in the condition presented, it's entirely too likely that you'll engage in friendly fire, or get outed at trial by a teammate who doesn't realize they're helping take out one of their own. Assuming, of course, that any of us here are playing along with the rules to that extent.
[ which. doesn't seem very likely, but. ]
I understand that personal motives may come into play ... but from what little I saw of him, he seemed fairly inoffensive. Admittedly, it's not like I'm the best judge of what does or doesn't make people friends around here, but... still.
[ extra credit killing at this point seems kind of dumb. she's leaning towards some kind of enforcement they're not aware of... yet. ]
I mean... It can't be for certain ruled out, though he seems to have been among some of the smaller populations present. He was from... the temple, I believe? Guy and Majima have made no secret of being from the same.
[ ... somehow, either of those committing a murder in this particular way doesn't sound right. ]
Two. But if that's a dead end, then we're back to where we started... though if the choice of victim were more random, and not premeditated by any grudges, that might itself tell us something.
[ what does it tell them? too many possibilities. a killer that didn't care who their victim was, a killer that was forced... honestly, at this point they have so little to go on.
in any case, she doubts that questioning guy and majima will get very far, but. ]
We might as well eliminate all the possibilities we can before going 'it's random', at least.
[It's the most likely case, and it's one Chuuya understands- he picked Four specifically because he didn't know her and wasn't attached to her. Someone else could have thought the same way.]
Sounds about right. There's no need to be hasty just yet, even ... knowing what we know.
[ or at least what they think they know, considering that the trend seems to be that they don't really get proper info until later, transparency in hosts or not. ]
Week 1, post-trial
It wasn't me.
no subject
I never said I thought it was.
[ though, she does giggle, mildly. ]
Or is this you trying to confess to me through whatever compulsions it is that prevent a killer from confessing?

...you know...we all came from different 'games', right? Think it could be a grudge carried over from whatever 'game' he was in before?
