[despite the emotional toll the end of the trial had taken on all of them, Akira doesn't feel tired at all. sleeping some eight or so hours will do that to a guy, that's for sure. . . and his mind is too busy racing with all of the mistakes that they made that led to Asch's unfair conviction]
[he meanders through the mansionly on autopilot, feet carrying him without input from his brain. and that's how he finds himself outside, near the shed, a flash of familiar orange appearing in his vision]
[an amused huff, and Akira approaches the shed, grabbing a hold of the low-hanging roof to pull himself up. he settles down next to Chuuya, legs dangling over the edge]
[Akira's expression turns stony and unreadable, his gaze affixed at a random spot on the horizon. he doesn't answer immediately, and when he does, it's in a low, quiet voice]
Because he believed it was better for us to execute someone innocent who asked for it, rather than someone innocent who didn't.
Which is stupid! Someone innocent who doesn't want to die is just going to die next week now. If they're really killing us for food, then they'll have to eat again. He did nothing for us besides make himself the martyr he wanted to be.
[He's mad, but that anger isn't directed at Akira. Chuuya just doesn't like self-sacrificing people.]

I don't agree with his logic. I don't agree with him standing up there and saying it was okay for us to vote for him because he had died once already. I think he's an idiot and a moron.
I control gravity. I could've stuck the suspects to the wall for better investigating. Or turned up the gravity on 'em a bit to see who is hiding supernatural strength.
[That question isn't what he had expected to hear, and it catches Chuuya off-guard. When he responds, it sounds almost confused, like he doesn't understand why Akira's asking it.]
Peach-san asked me that question when I asked her about the story told before Haruka-san's death. And when I told her I usually do, she told me to "look hard enough to find the answers I'm looking for."
I guess it might not sound like much, but when I take what she said and put it alongside what we've experienced-- the loss of our senses, of our limbs, the fact that we couldn't see the rats or the evidence of Haruka-san's death until the day of the trial-- it makes me wonder. . .
It makes me wonder if something about this mansion is affected by our perceptions of it.
It's...possible, I guess. 'This must be an ability' is what I thought when we started losing our senses last week.
But everything that's happening here, it's for a reason. Even our perceptions being affected is for a reason. And we'll be in a better place to break out once we know the 'why'.
In the meantime, all we can go on is what we perceive. Even if that's faulty, finding the patterns in what we see and feel is just another clue.
I think we need to be careful about jumping to conclusions, though. I think we need to be more mindful about looking for things that escape our notice the first time around.
And I don't mean we should do that during trials, I mean— in general.

Of course we do. We're not gonna get out of here if we just sit around and go "I guess it can't be helped."

if the monsters were 'Blue' or the girls, I could see it as just being us brought here for food. But the monsters, they're mixed in with us, aren't they? And like, Nikki didn't seem to think she was one at all. Or at least she was friendly and nice up until that trial. She wouldn't do that if she just saw us as food.
[So, yeah. Even if he's pretty sure they're there to be eaten, he's also sure it's more complicated than just that.]
